American Native – COMING SOON!!

American Native (AN) is a proprietary blend of true Native Grasses and hybrid native grasses. It was developed to give the look of a bluegrass/ryegrass blend, but only uses half as much (50% less) water. It has good qualities for deep rooting, up to 6 feet. Its high heat tolerance helps it use only 14 inches of water during May to September growing season. It is insect and disease resistant. It requires less nitrogen than bluegrass while maintaining a deeper dark green color. It is softer to the touch and requires less mowing than bluegrass. It is one of the few turf products listed on the LEEDS qualified plant list. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a rating system devised by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). USGBC at

Our proprietary blend of native species represent high quality seed genetics available from research and testing. This new sunrise of innovation of genetic research represents every favorable quality that can be combined to have an ideal blend of grass and use less water as well. All of the research used to produce AN has been accomplished under high quality laboratory controlled conditions and reporting standards by several of the foremost seed researchers in the world.

American Native is very adaptable to perform well on high pH and a severely disturbed low quality soil which is found in many new landscapes.  AN exhibits high traffic tolerance and a deep root systems down to 8 feet. The seasonal water requirements for AN are in the range of 14-18 inches of water.

AN has a high tolerance for the intense conditions of summer heat and intense sunlight in the Inter-mountain regions. The species were selected by plant breeders due to its disease and insect resistance, the rugged, durable characteristics and suitability under severe conditions of heat, drought, poor soils, salt and shade.
