Quick Fact:What Is The Best Soil For Turfgrass?

Loams, sandy loams and loamy sands, with a pH of 6.0 to 7.0 are the very best soils for producing a beautiful, high-use, low-maintenance lawn. Unfortunately, this ideal soil mixture is seldom found on any property after the construction phase.

My Experience with All American Sod was great. High quality sod for a good price. Delivery went great and sod looks great. Thank you for the great service

5000 sq ft of this is in our yard. After five years it looks great. Every time I dig up a sprinkler to fix it and see the red dirt I think of Richfield.

INCREASED IRON AVAILABILITY

“In your(All American Sod Farm) high pH and high lime soils, the total amount of iron is quite high(making it red in color), typically 10,000 ppm or so. Unfortunately, that red colored iron is an iron oxide that is essentially unavailable to plants. The soil test iron number is a DTPA (a type of chelate) extractable iron that is designed to show how easily a plant can get iron from the soil.

If this soil is mixed with an acid soil or has its pH lowered using acid fertilizer, the soil lime is neutralized, the soil pH drops and many nutrients such as phosphorus and iron become available. The soil iron is essentially changed from an unavailable form to a plant available form.”

Important Chemical Reaction

IRON RICH SOIL

Installing turf grass sod grown in “Southern Utah Super Soil,” placed on any other type of soil, soon causes a chemical reaction which breaks down tied up unavailable iron from the soil converting it to available iron. Therefore this helps make, All American Sod Farm sod, dark green in color and healthier for many years to come.  This causes great customer satisfaction.  The true science of beautiful sod.

WHY IS IRON IMPORTANT

What does iron do in the plant?  “Iron draws energy to the leaf by absorbing heat from the sun; therefore it makes the leaf darker, thus absorbing more energy. It will increase the waxy sheen of the plant which allows better nutrient uptake.  Iron is necessary for the maintenance and synthesis of chlorophyll and RNA metabolism in the chloroplasts.  It increases the thickness (not width) of the leaf, [which] increases nutrient flow geometrically, resulting in a darker greener healthier lawn.

“We have bought sod many times over the years, we like yours the best. the soil makes all the difference! It is always dark green”    G RENCHER
